Gifted and talented
Nundah State School considers the
needs of gifted and talented students through our Students With Additional
Needs (SWAN) referral processes for possible Gifted/Talented students. Through
successful identification, differentiated curriculum provisions and whole
school offerings, our school aims to ensure that the learning needs of these
students are addressed.
There are multiple opportunities that
the school community has embraced for engaging gifted and talented students
including, International competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), clubs
(Science, Chess, Robotics, Creative writing, Choirs), Student Council.
Curriculum compacting and acceleration, either by subject or whole year level,
have also been successfully employed, based on the specific needs of individual
students. Our primary focus continues to be the daily differentiation of all
class lessons, so that students are able to learn at their level of ability.
