Excursions and incursions
Nundah State School maintains a strong program of excursions and incursions related to the curriculum units children are studying. This helps students connect their learning to the real world and understand its significance. Each year level will have 1-2 excursions (going out of school into the world) or incursions (bringing the world into our school) in any given year. The anticipated costs associated with these are detailed each year on the stationery list.
Outdoor education and camping program
At Nundah State School, we have a comprehensive camping/outdoor education program, along with appropriate year level curriculum based excursions and trips.
The program aims to give our children opportunities to experience a range of activities.
Our school is equipped with staff experienced in organising and running school camps. The camps are held for varying durations in a range of settings from Year 3 to Year 6. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for staff, students and volunteers at all sites – both on and off campus.
All planned school excursions are approved by the Principal and endorsed by the P&C Association. Camps and excursions appear on our approved term calendar and annual stationery and events list.
Notification will be given and permission sought for the participation of your child.
Expenses are charged for the cost of these activities – such expenses are directed to the purpose for which it is charged.
School charges for camps and excursions are calculated on a cost recovery basis, according to the number of students who have indicated their attendance.
Participation of students is indicated through payment of the excursion or camp charge and provision of a permission form completed by the parent/carer.
All children are expected to attend the year level camps, and we attempt to keep costs reasonable. If a child’s behaviour choices are deemed to have been inappropriate during the course of a school year, the Principal reserves the right to retract an invitation to the child to participate in camps or excursions. We work with parents to consider options in an attempt to ensure each child can participate where possible.
