Welcome to Nundah State School, a wonderful school where we care greatly about one another and work together to grow curious, connected and intrinsically motivated learners.

Located on the hill nearby Nundah Village, we have a central place in our open and giving community. Nundah has achieved much in its proud history as one of the oldest primary schools in Queensland, founded in 1865 with its traditional buildings and classrooms now transformed into contemporary indoor and outdoor learning spaces where we can learn how to  “We Wonder at Nundah”.

We make this promise to our students and families:

In everything we do we will live our Beliefs that:

  •  Given sufficient challenge and support all students can learn and achieve to higher levels.
  •  We have fun when we are learning, and that by making learning playful, and providing choices wherever possible we can further enhance learning.
  •  It is our shared responsibility to develop the whole person – social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and physical.
  •  Our basic needs drive our choices and that we can teach others that we are in control of our choices, behaviours, and attitudes, and that we can make strong choices.
  •  Growth and happiness can be best found in a culture of internal control psychology where intrinsic motivation is harnessed, and a growth mindset promoted.

We will live our Values everyday:

Curiosity

  • ask and answer questions thoughtfully and purposefully
  • design opportunities with time for deep learning and enduring understandings

Connecting

  • make links with learning and my interests, experiences, strengths, needs and hopes
  • share my learning with our co-learners, families, and community
  • learn from and with one another

Risk-Making

  •  celebrate “mis-takes” as a chance to learn something new and to develop resilience
  •  re-frame problems as opportunities
  •  create opportunities to try new thing

Quality

  •  know what excellence looks like and how to move towards achievable goals, and evaluate for quality
  •  focus on improving teaching and learning for everyone, providing feedback, acknowledging effort and celebrating growth

Creativity

  • choose a variety of ways to teach, learn and show what we know
  • foster self-awareness of thinking and stimulate our imagination

Independence

  • develop responsibility for one’s own learning (how to be self- managing and grow in control of my learning)
  • seek to construct knowledge and make meaning from own learning

So that we grow our learner’s capability to become:

I hope you enjoy becoming part of Nundah’s history as much as we enjoy your children and our school.
