Why OneNote?

  • To help support our children and families, Nundah has opted to use the OneNote platform. As part of the Office 365 package, OneNote is departmentally supported and linked to each student's and teacher's school account. It offers better security as the information is stored at servers in Australia (unlike competing options).
  • OneNote offers an app on each type of device which stores information locally on your device, meaning once you have synced your content, you can work offline until you next need to upload or download your work. This reduces total downloads as well as bandwidth usage
  • OneNote offers near real-time syncing, meaning that as your child types or draws on a page in response to an activity, it can become visible to their class teacher within seconds.

Which version do I use?

  • We recommend that you use the App version for whichever device you have. You can find OneNote on Windows and Apple computers, iPads and Android Tablets. You can also access it on your phone, to check your child's progress and help them complete their activities.

How do I connect to my child's OneNote?

How do I use OneNote?

  • Visit the 'Using OneNote' page to watch a video walkthrough guide for a tour of an example notebook and for videos on features of OneNote including the powerful 'Immersive Reader' tool.

OneNote is not syncing any new content. What do I do?

I need to use OneNote for 2 or more children on one device but it won't let me sign in with a second account.

  • The OneNote apps store the log in details for whoever has logged in first and only allows one user from the organisation to log in at a timew. You CAN remove these details to log in with another account without deleting content from the first user. Click here for more information.
  • While we recommend that you use the OneNote app for each device as they have improved features, you can also use OneNote Online which can be accessed in any browser (e.g. Safari, Firefox, Chrome) and is usable on laptop or desktop computers. OneNote Online is not recommended for use on a tablet (e.g. iPad/ Galaxy Tab) as it can be very difficult to navigate and use.  OneNote Online allows you to login with a different user each time.  Click here for more information
  • If you are have significant issues swapping accounts, please contact the school's technical support team.

Can I limit my children so they have to stay in the OneNote app?

  • iPad and Android both have features that allow you to lock children into a particular app. Click here to learn how to set up these features. N.B. If teachers have embedded links to videos for the children to look at, they won't be able to access these while they are locked into OneNote.

I can't type in OneNote. It is only letting me draw?

  • This page shows you how to return to typing on the different devices.
  • Please see the Tech support section in your child's OneNote.

How do I know which version of OneNote I am using?

  • Click here to see a picture snapshot of what the different OneNote apps look like so you are able to tell us what version your are using. Please note: There are only different versions on Windows and Apple Computers.
  • Please see the Tech support section in your child's OneNote

I'm concerned about my children spending too much time on their iPad. Can I limit the time they are using it?

  • Apple has a feature called ScreenTime which can be enabled on the iPad or through a device linked to the iPad through Family Sharing. Click here to see a video about enabling ScreenTime features.
  • Please Note: If you block access to sites in Safari, you may accidentally stop children from being able to access content shared to them by their teachers.

If your question is not in the list above or you are unable to solve your issue, please contact :

  • your class teacher for information about activities, workload or other content
  • the school's technical staff for advice on troubleshooting problems at studentsupport@nundahss.eq.edu.au
